At Seraly Eye Care Associates, we are dedicated to fostering optimal eye health and ensuring you achieve the clearest vision possible. We welcome a variety of vision and medical insurance plans, as well as cash, checks, and most major credit cards.
Vision Insurance
Dr. Seraly and the team at Seraly Eye Care Associates approach even routine eye exams with the utmost seriousness. Our knowledgeable staff is well-versed in navigating vision insurance providers. We are dedicated to helping you fully understand your insurance coverage and are here to address any questions you may have regarding your benefits. While many current vision plans aim to cover the majority of basic vision-related expenses, they do not encompass all costs associated with eye care. Typically, most plans necessitate a co-payment for an office visit, along with additional expenses that fall under the responsibility of the insured patient.
What vision insurance providers are accepted?
Sometimes major medical insurance carriers have a vision plan added to your health plan; however they do not usually service the plan themselves. For example, Highmark’s Fashion Advantage Vision Plan is serviced by Davis Vision. If your card does not list the actual vision provider, call the member services number to see if they can assist you. Medical Insurance
Not all visits to the eye doctor are covered by vision insurance. While we accept most major medical insurance, please note that we are not in-network with any Medicaid plans. If you have questions regarding the acceptance of your medical insurance, we recommend calling the member services number located on your card.
When is an appointment billed to my vision insurance versus my medical insurance?
Most people have vision insurance and medical insurance. They are very different in terms of the services they cover and it’s important for our patients to understand those differences. Vision coverage is mainly designed to determine a prescription for glasses and is not equipped to deal with complex medical conditions and/or diagnoses. It does allow for screenings of conditions, but once they are determined, then medical insurance is filed on those services. When a medical condition is present (such as diabetes, cataracts, dry eye, floaters, etc.) it is necessary to file the visit with your major medical carrier and the co-pays, co-insurance, and deductible for that insurance will apply. Insurance carriers set these rules and our office is required to follow them. In most cases, there is no way to know prior to the examination which type of insurance our office will be able to file for you.
Other Payment Options
We accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, AMEX, and Care Credit. Most HSA/FSA cards are also able to be used on eligible purchases.
